Nokia N8 (Update)

It will be less than a month before Nokia will ship their newest smartphone N8 to the dealers. The phone was announced last spring and Nokia is already showing the N8 to the press this week. The design, the new Symbian OS 3 and the 12 mega-pixel camera are the most important selling features.

Yes, a 12 mega-pixel camera with HD video quality can be called quite unique in the ever more competitive mobile phone market. Most potential customers will be interested to know how this latest smartphone from Nokia holds up against the Apple iPhone 4, but it is not really a fair comparison – the iPhone 4 has a 5 mega-pixel camera, no challenge for the Nokia N8 (which has a Carl Zeiss lens as well to boost).

In addition to all the juicy hardware specifications, the Nokia N8 comes with a photo editing software built-in. This will allow users to create professional quality after-effects. The only preliminary downside seen so far is the fact that there is no optical zoom on the unit, but there aren’t a lot of smartphones that have this capability anyway.
